The St Blaise – Curran Memorial Group was originally called the Thomas A. Curran Memorial Retreat Group – better known as the “Delaware County” Group.

In 1953, Judge Thomas A. Curran sent a letter to the Malvern Board of Directors requesting a weekend (check with Nick Santoleri – a copy of this letter is saved in the Malvern archives for our group).  However, it appears that the group officially started in 1970, with Judge Francis J. Catania as the founding C.A. Captain.   Around 2010, the Retreat House suggested that the various groups use religious names, rather than names of individuals or organizations.  Therefore, we chose St. Blaise, named after Saint for our weekend.  We also kept the Curran name not to lose any of our past heritage.

Judge Catania was followed by the following Captains:

  • 1998 to 2010 – Judge Edward J. Zetusky, Jr. (13 years)
  • 2011 to 2017 – Armond A. (Mondie) Novelli and Joseph J. Santoleri, Sr. (7 years)
  • 2018 to Present – E. David Santoleri and Anthony W. Gentile
